From The Power Word: Gold Hatchery Though I've been playing World of Warcraft for five years, I am relatively new to gold-making. My interest was peaked due to a guildie posting in our guild forums: "You too can be a WoW Millionaire". He posted a few podcast links, one being PowerWord: Gold. The very first episode I downloaded was Episode 24 where Flux interviewed Keehaul, aka The Mogfather. Hearing that I could flip a worthless piece of Vanilla or Burning Crusade gear into a huge profit seemed too good to be true. 51 days and 75k gold later, I assure you, it was worth the investment. Head past the jump for a few thoughts on mogging.I started selling transmog (xmog) gear on 01 Jan 12. Since then, selling exclusively plate, I've made 75k gold on a 100g investment. According to Blizzard, my server population is Medium. In some ways, it's quite backwater when it comes to xmog in comparison to the high-pop servers of Proudmoore, Hellscream, Moon Guard, etc. I initially started selling based on Keehaul's tier pricing guide but at random prices per armor set, per piece of gear. From Foo's WoW musings Well, ... my gems are at any case.Recently there has been a flood of cheap gems; I've noticed it; The gold queen thinks it might be to hacks. While not discounting the possibility of hacked gems (I came accross my own suspicious gem deal), I am not so sure.Who buys gems? Main toons getting new gear. Just because I have my keep my (healer) alt ready to go with even a few epic cata gems; does not mean that Joe Average gems his alts. I am starting to see a few ungemmed or unenchanted toons offer to join my pugs (I am current recruiting DPS), claiming to have DS10 experience on their alts. What do mains not buy? Glyphs - they already have them. So, what does Joe Average buy for his alts? Cheap glyphs, and Epic BOE's. Trinkets are my BOE sale of choice, but I gave up on them when 4.3 dropped; a surplus of trinkets; all better than most Darkmoon cards.I wasn't the only one. For a few Darkmoon cycles, you couldn't give some trinkets away. I was starting to unload my unused cards. Read More..
By Jim Younkin From Power Word: Gold Many of us love using _NPCScan to hunt rare spawns for fun and profit (Collidus the Warp Watcher anyone?). Problem is, once you find a rare spawn _NPCScan won't alert you if you see them again unless you delete your creaturecache.wdb file outside the game. This short video goes over how to delete the proper file as well as a shortcut to make it faster the next time you need to delete it. Like this post? By Hoozhee From The Consortium WoW Gold Forums How much of the Elementium ore avilable on the AH is farmed legitimately - without the use of bots? Considering how the Inferno Ruby market is based on the amount of Elementium ore farmed, it follows that an over abundance of ore leads to a drop in the price of the gems. On my server Saurfang-EU the price of ore appears to have levelled out - most is sold for about 65g - 70g per stack, though a lot gets snapped up when it hits the AH at 50g and less - very often at 3am or so, and then 6 hours later. The major elementium posters seem to be level ones that post about 1800 Elementium Ore, 80 Pyrite Ore, Volatiles and Rubies, what I've worked out to be full bags worth. In other words, in 6 hours of farming, 4x32 slot mining bags + Backpack are filled with rubies and Carnelians, ore and volatiles, pick and HS. It smells like a bot to me. If the bots are removed - accounts banned, toons deleted, how will that affect the Inferno Ruby market and the Queen's Garnet market which seems to be under a dupe attack anyway. What is your server's Elementium Ore and Inferno Ruby market like? Read More..
By Vile From Vile's Golden Auctions So you have seen those guys in trade channel selling Mechano-Hogs asking for 20k or 30k, so why not look into that market and see if we can make some gold off it. First things first, when thinking about getting into the Mechano-Hog market there are two things you need to have decided. First thing is do you want to sell the actual mount or get into manufacturing the parts for it's creation, and the second one would be that you have at least enough gold to be able to buy the vendor items from the vendor at K3 in Stormpeaks. Ok lets look at the first scenario where you would be selling the actual mount. This market really depends on two things, first one is the competition and the second one is the size of your server. The reason why I mentioned the competition is because if there is a fellow engineer making these and posting them on the auction house for a 1000g profit then it is up to you to decide if you want to get in on the action for a cut of the meager earnings, or take the diplomatic route and get to a agreement where you get him to raise his prices to a profitable level. The second thing I mentioned is the size of the server. Read More..
From Kuja's Gold Mine I haven't created many gold making tips that include the neutral auction house, so time to post one! This is very simple and requires nothing from you, except an alliance toon or a friend and the trip to the nearest goblin controlled auction house. However, if you have engineering, there's more gold to be made!GUR has seen lots of fun uses, like controlling Fel Reavers and Ulduar raid bosses! It's a lot more valuable on the other side Gnomish Universal Remote is a fun engineering trinket that is learned from the Schematic: Gnomish Universal Remote recipe. These can both be sold on the Horde side for a lot of coin because the schematic is sold by an Alliance vendor only. This means you can only make "fast" gold with this if you know an Alliance player, or have one yourself. Keep in mind that fast is a relative term, and might be a day or a month, depending on the amount of engineer collectors on your realm. Read More..
From The Gold Mint The first Antonidas Mogging Contest is over and was a huge success. 170,000 in gold and other prizes were handed out. A few categories were difficult to judge and some lessons were learned for the future (note to self: hold the next contest indoors so mounts aren't a problem) but overall things went very well and it was a lot of fun. We'll definitely be doing it again next month!Being the first time, we got so wrapped up in organizing and running the contest we forgot to have someone write down the winner's names until after the contest was over. We couldn't remember the name in a couple cases.Overall Best Dressed 1st place Famine 25,000g 2nd place Soliss 15,000g 3rd place Mike 10,000g Honorable Mentions (5,000g each) to Dreary and Jalepeno, both of whom won prizes in other categories.Creepiest Thegayblade 10,000g Read More..
By Jim Younkin From Power Word: Gold Watch live video from jimyounkin on TwitchTV Keelhaul (@DEazeroth) was at is again tonight. He hosted a Transmog Fashion Show with 100k gold in prizes on the Proudmoore-US (A) realm. Keel asked me to livestream it and the 1 hour recording of the event is above. You can also watch it on the recording's page on twitch.tv. If you ever wonder who in the world would buy your transmog items for the prices we charge, just watch the video above. I know I saw some of the sets I'm selling being sported by the mogging players. Congrats to all the winners! I took care to read off the transmog items for the sets I thought were especially great. To catch all my livestreams be sure to follow me at twitch.tv/jimyounkin. Like this post? By WoWMarketeer From WoW Marketeer I've had many people ask me what crafting professions make the most gold in World of Warcraft. So I thought to myself for a moment and came to realize, I make tons of profit with all three crafting professions. The secret lies in a small formula that most of us ask ourselves. How much will it cost me to craft X item and how much can I sell X item for to make profit? In this video I will show you how to use a tool that will answer all these questions and more. From Twitchie Enterprises Previously I wrote about my first 10 days on a new server, amassing 3,000 gold starting a worgen from scratch and working the low level glyph market. I had a couple of nice transmog sales, which helped while I was reinvesting all my coin back into herbs and inks. For the 10k graph, since I wasn't reinvesting every last copper into materials or BoEs, I've just expressed my capital as a result of my glyph and transmog sales. The first thing that will jump out at people is day 18, where I made a 2,500+g transmog sale. Thanks to a pair of [Saltstone Leggings], I hit 25% of my 10k target in only one sale.I hit 10k on day 19, and already transmog sales had contributed 40% of my capital. I was very happy with how the glyph market turned out, as almost 7.5k gold profit in 3 weeks starting from scratch is a great result. Read More..
By Alyzande From The Gold Queen Gold in Inventory and Auction House Inspired by a real-id chat with blog reader Graeme, I wanted to take a snapshot of exactly where I am with gold-making. I'll use the opportunity to compare my liquid gold-in-hand currency to the value of my auctions that I have posted. I took the snapshot 20 February 23:00 approx I discovered I had far more auctions up on AH than I thought. I'm pleased by that, because it means my gold is working for me, creating more wealth, rather than stagnating in my pockets. Jewelcrafter and Transmogrification items 170,455g in AH Incoming from sold auctions 178g click to enlarge Junk, Slow Sellers, Limited Supply Recipes 143,376g in AH click to enlarge Inscription Alt 188,914g in AH Incoming from sold auctions 244g click to enlarge Herbalist & Transmute Alchemist Read More..
By Alyzande From The Gold Queen Duping Hack destroys World of Warcraft Gold value My home server has seen a sudden surge in Queen's Garnet and Crimson Deathcharger items, allegedly due to duping hacks by clever, but malicious, profiteers. The Consortium forum at Stormspire also reported an increase in numbers of Queen's Garnets How did this happen? World of Warcraft is a complicated game, as UtesDad of US-Eitrigg says, and that's why these small loopholes can be found. Blizzard will be working behind the scenes to hot-fix the problems, but in the meantime, gold gamers' investments have dropped in value. Worldwide Crimson Deathcharger prices Data from The Undermine Journal shows that the number of Crimson Deathchargers available worldwide is 202. My server saw 9 out of those 202, which is a considerable percentage. Read More..
By Vile From Vile's Golden Auctions This is not going to be a long post, but a rather short and informative for some more then others. It's a given fact that the majority of the players nowadays use TSM for all their posting needs, but what is interesting is that many of those auctioneers are still using the click to post button. Now this is not wrong by any means, and it can be productive if you are posting ten or so auctions, but when you start posting 200 or more auctions it gets tiresome. In order to be able to use this feature of TSM you need to enable it. This is fairly easy to do and all you need to do is press the Auctioning Groups/Options and then go down to the section that is highlighted in red on the image. When you get there all you need to do is choose a button modifier ( I usually choose alt ) and then press the create macro button below. Once you have done this all you need to do is go to the Auction House and do a posting scan, then when it's time to post the auctions simply hold the modifier key ( alt in my case ) and scroll up and down. That is when you see your auctions being posted up there rather fast without you having to click that post button 500 times. Read More..
From The Power Word: Gold Hatchery Today's Hatchery post is a Leather mogging item flip list put together by farli_wow and EpicPennyPouch. Many of us have been clamoring for just such a list. Head past the jump to learn a bit about these two as well as find the all-important mogging list.About Usfarli_wow: I recently hit 500k profit from transmogg on a medium population realm selling to horde and alliance. If you listen to podcasts like Power Word: Gold and Rep Grind Radio you might have heard my name pop up a few times over recent weeks.I use great resources like wowroleplaygear, wowhead, Disenchanting Azeroth and twitterto build up my knowledge. For more information and/or questions, follow me on Twitter: @farli_wow.EpicPennyPouch: I went into gold making only in Cataclysm, hit the gold cap in June 2011 and shortly after that got bored of the routine and was just playing the game for a while. Then the patch 4.3 brought the transmogrification feature and the whole new market of BoE xmogging gear evolved. Keelhaul (aka Mogfather) showed us its possibilities and right now I'm full into it, xmogging my toons and selling gear to other players. Read More..
From Vile's Golden Auctions One of the best things you can get in WoW from a gold maker's point of view is when you get a new market to dabble in and make profit out of. As of the last patch we got the Transmogrification market and we saw a explosion of posts all detailing ways to make gold off it, and they were all valid as you could make a lot of gold from it.I don't know how much have you folks heard about this, but there has been a small movement of die hard hardcore players out there that have made a sort of an achievement for WoW players to prove their Elite status, and they have named this The Ironman Challenge. Now I wouldn't have given this more of a though except, Blizzard has decided to give them some attention and publicity and usually when that happens people tend to go for it. Now if you take a look at the rules for the challenge you can notice a few things, but first here are the rules for it. Read More.. |
