Market and Seller Notifications
Market and Seller Notifications are our premier service. Knowledge is power, and we deliver it straight to you.

What's the big deal, you ask? What do you get for your money? Allow us to explain.
Market Notifications
Market notifications are set up when you tell The Undermine Journal to watch items of your choice.

We send a message to you as soon as we see the market change in a way that you specify.

Want to know when an item becomes available to buy?

How about when the price drops on something you want to buy, or when the price goes up on things you sell?

We check every auction house every hour.
We can let you know.
Seller Notifications
Seller notifications are set up when you want us to keep an eye on your competition.

Want to know when your raw material suppliers post new auctions?

Or maybe you want to see when your realm's other big jewelcrafter is posting her wares?

Maybe you want to know when your auctions are undercut?

We can tell you as soon as we see it happen.
How to Set Them Up
It's easy to set up new notifications. Just visit the page for the item or seller on your realm.

Find the "Notifications" section, read the prompts, and select from the dropdown or check a box. Quick and painless.

In fact, you can try it out now! Even if you don't have a subscription, you can see all the options we provide. Just log in and start browsing.

You can explore everything we offer before you buy. Once you subscribe, we can start generating messages based on the notifications you set up.
How We Notify You
We offer a lot of ways to let you know when the market changes. Our easiest and most popular way is by EMail. Tell us your email address, verify it with our site, and we'll send you updates automatically.

If you're familiar with RSS feeds, we also offer personalized feeds with the same full notification information.

Another avenue we're exploring is SMS Text Messages. If you have a cell phone in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Germany, Brazil, or Denmark, just send a special message to our phone number, and we'll keep you informed that way.

Finally, all the messages we send you are stored in a special Messages Inbox on our site. When you log in, there's a simple display of the last 50 things we sent to you.

Unusual Item Notifications
We've recently released another unique notification function: Unusual Item Notifications.

Most market notifications watch a specific item or seller, but sometimes you want to watch the market for items that are rare, but unfamiliar to you. This is where Unusual Item Notifications come in. You can direct the service to tell you when any item in a category (such as "Weapon", "Armor", "Recipe", or others) is posted after having been absent from the market for a period of time you specify.

For example, you can ask to be notified when uncommon-quality ("green") recipes that haven't been seen in over 21 days are posted on the auction house. That way you can find out when exceptional events happen on items you didn't even consider.

The notification messages tell you the item (with a link to its page here), the price, and the time since we've last seen it. We've been watching the Auction House of most realms every hour of every day for over a year, so you'll have accurate and useful information.

The weapons and armor categories are very helpful for transmog sellers, and other categories provide tips for anyone looking to flip rare items for a substantial profit.
Example Scenarios
You collect recipes. You want to know when [Recipe: Thistle Tea] appears, regardless of price.
Ask us to notify you when the quantity available is greater than 0.

You scribe glyphs. You want to know when to buy herbs in bulk.
Ask us to notify you when the price to buy 200 [Whiptail] is under 400g.

You sell rare pets. You have some occasional competition. You want to know when the price goes back up.
Ask us to notify you when the market price is over 300g, and when the quantity available is under 1.

You sell a number of items on your bank alt, Goldilocks. You want to know when she's undercut, and on what items, so you can decide whether to cancel and repost. Ask us to notify you when Goldilocks is undercut.

You're trying to get a handle on when your competition posts, and want to undercut him as soon as possible.
Ask us to notify you when he posts new auctions.
How We're Different
You may have heard of other services that offer similar "notifications." The Undermine Journal was the pioneer in this field, and we continue to provide the best and most comprehensive service. Here are just a few ways we're better than the other guys, and worth your patronage:
  • No programs to install and run on your computer 24/7.

  • We support events over multiple auctions.. i.e. searching for quantities greater than the stack size.

  • We can watch over all US/EU realms with one notification. Want to know when an ultra-rare item is posted anywhere? One notification can have us watch all the auction houses in a region.

  • Posting some rare items, and want to know when others post them, too? Normally your own alt would trigger your notification, but we let you ignore specific sellers. Ask us to ignore whatever characters you want, and you won't get notifications triggered by them again.

  • We can watch over an entire item category to let you know when a rare item is posted on your realm.
Unusual Item Notifications use auction history like no other service.

  • We have a powerful watchlist interface on our user controls page, that sorts your watched items, and lets you mass-delete, export for backup or sharing, and import multiple notifications at once.

  • The detail we provide in our notification messages is second-to-none. At a glance, you get an idea of the market, so you can decide whether to click for more information, act immediately, or let it slide.

Finally, your subscription helps to support the first, the best, The Undermine Journal.
Battle.net Provides Hourly Updates
Our notification events system uses Blizzard's Battle.net API. This means two things:
  • If the Battle.net API is down, then we can't get the data to send it to you.

  • Blizzard updates auction house data about once per hour,
so you will get notifications no more frequently than about every 60 minutes per realm.
